This cover version (it was originally released by the Troggs in 1967) went straight to number-one and stayed there for 15 consectutive weeks; managing a massive 37 weeks in the charts overall. It’s popularity was added to by it being featured in the hit film ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.

Whigfield / Saturday Night

This was the debut single from the blonde, Danish singer. Prior to its UK release, it was a big hit with holidaymakers on the continent over the summer of ’94; partly due to it’s fun dance routine. It went straight in at number-one and stayed there for four weeks; in total selling over a million copies.

1994 Number 3 Single

Pato Banton / Baby Come Back

Originally a number-one hit in 1968 for ‘The Equals’, this cover version had spoken verses added to it (by Banton) and was sung by the brothers from reggae band ‘UB40’. It entered the charts at number-sixteen; taking 4 weeks to reach the number-one spot; where it stayed for a further 4 weeks.

East 17 / Stay Another Day

This was East 17’s (later just E-17) first and only number-one. It was written by the band's lead singer about the cancer caused death of his brother. Entering the chart at number seven, it climbed to number-one the following week and stayed there for 5 weeks; becoming the Christmas chart topper.

All-4-One / I Swear

‘I Swear’ was taken from male R&B group ‘All-4-One’s self-titled 1994 debut album. It had a seven week run at number-two in the chart; only being kept off the top by the massive hit "Love Is All Around" by Wet Wet Wet. The group went on to release a further 6 albums; with varying levels of success.
